For us two legged creatures, shoes offer us protection from the harsh winter winds, the cold frozen ground, and the crunchy stinging salt preventing us from slipping on the snow banked sidewalks.
However, not all creatures are lucky enough to own or wear such orthopedic amenities. Also, they're not made to wear said orthopedic amenities. Unfortunately, some people think that they're being helping by buying similar articles of clothing for their dogs. I don't know why these people think that they're looking out for their pet's best interest by looking out for their feet. If the dogs knew what they looked like, they'd instantly regret their owner's decision and request a refund both of money and pride...
The other day, while walking to work I was witness to one of these ridiculous moments of doggie dressing doom...As I crossed the street, I saw a woman walking her Dachsund. Need I remind you that Dachsund are barely six inches off the ground with legs even shorter. Yet, this poor puppy's lady friend had decided he need protection on all four feet... If you've ever struggled to get boots off, you'll know how this dog felt. If you ever imagined seeing yourself struggle to get them off, you'll know what he was thinking. And if you've imagined doing that while trying to shake them off while walking, you'll know how this dog looked. Like walking with suction cup booties, this four legged friend tried his hardest to remove the booty beasts but to no avail, only to end up spending his entire walk in an futile struggle that ended in emabarassment... Oh, if only I could look that cute when doing something embarassing...
